Warcraft, Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes, Avatar, Beowulf and Final Fantasy are some of the biggest names in movie motion capture. One of the most exciting elements in these films is the fast and furious use of swords combat and magic. If you want to find yourself on the mocap stage working on blockbusters movies and games, you're going to need a few new tricks up your sleeve!

 

Taught by Performance Capture Veterans TJ Storm & Richard Dorton,  you will learn a variety of skills and techniques that will prepare you for working with intense sword combat. You'll learn sword safety, style, integration with dialogue and, in particular, how to make use of these skills in the motion capture volume. In addition to this, you'll get to grips with techniques for fantasy, magic, warcraft and mayhem. Students will learn choreography that will be integrated into a fight scene and professionally filmed at a motion capture studio.

 

This is a 2 day course that will entail learning choreography and dialogue built around scenes from video game cinematics and film. Students will learn both the offensive and defensive choreography so they will have a variety of choices & different styles to create for their scenes.

 

Day 1: Wednesday September 28th - Learning skills and choreography

Day 2: Saturday October 1st - Developing and shooting scenes on the stage
